Towards a quieter neonatal intensive care unit: Current approaches and design opportunities

Recent studies show that the well-being of patients and performance healthcare professionals in modern neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) are severely affected by amount auditory alarms sound nuisance. This paper presents a semi-systematic review on topic environmental NICU, where current themes, insights, limitations highlighted. Furthermore, it outlines results an observation NICU environment interview with nurses at Erasmus Medical Center, order to understand users, their context, technology can enable design interventions. The insights gathered from literature together search, lead potential opportunities be developed further. Based these, we propose technological solution towards healthy NICU.
